Following the announcement of the proposed alliance between Fiat and Chrysler in January, the question on everybody’s lips was which European top-sellers were finally going to come to North America. Stylish compact cars like the Fiat 500 and Bravo were suddenly a very real possibility for North America but those are just two of a handful of new models that could make their way Stateside. Up to seven different models from Fiat and Alfa Romeo could be sold locally, and latest reports indicate that one of these could be sold under the Jeep brand.

I agree. While an aliance with Fiat can bring a much needed cash injection, ba$tardizing the Jeep badge is a monumentally bad idea. Jeep survives because of It's core followers, and diluting and ignoring that following will just make Jeep a (GASP) S-U-V. :( Chryco needs to step back and think a little before turning over the reighns to another investor. The introduction of a new to this country line of autos is a solid idea, and if done correctly, may actually unseat the Japenese strangle hold, and bring new market interest to Chrysler. BUT, killing off a tried and true badge like Jeep, and stripping out a fine line of muscle cars to go headlong into an unproven market could be a financial disaster, and will certainly piss off the core Jeep and muscle buyers of America.
