Jeep CJ flat fender kit

Nice option for allowing maximum front suspension travel / flex. Are those steel or poly?
 
when the time comes ill just stay trimmed, just dont like it
 
Agree-I'll keep my OEM front fenders till I mess'em up be-on fix'n.
Then I would have no issue with the steel 'flat' fender install.

I guess the CJ7 fenders are best in the oem design. Thanks for the responses.

I have seen a few jeeps with the flat fenders....I actually like them but I'm a bit of an OEM guy when it comes to the looks of a Jeep. Having said that, who knows, I might try them some day. As some have mentioned, flexible, probably less expensive than a new style fender, and more clearance, and easier to install I would guess. :chug:
 
I picked some up from a local fabricator, the flat metal ones for front and back. The look is pretty cool, I like when the windshield is down, but I really want to have some designed to look more stock. Just haven't got around to it as I picked up more for function over form.

I prefer the stock fender on a street/trail rig.
However, I did purchase a tube fender kit for $AMC 150 for my mostly trail rig

I’ll add an inner fender once I burn the front shock mounts in. I already cut off a stock inner fender to use if need be or I could go with 16g sheetmetal.

I'm partial to the stock fenders for looks but in the woods on the ledges etc it's tough not to bang em up. I've been thinking about cutting everything from the top edge radius down off, fabbing up a tube that fits inside the radius edge of the fender keeping the stock lines but adding protection and then building metal flares that come down from that at an angle. These ones from the WMMJ club guys in Maine show the sloped flares, I'd just attach those maybe an inch down from the radius edge to keep the stock lines. Something like these sketch. I'd keep the front portion of the fender as well, just add the pipe protection in side and run over to the grill. You'd gain a couple of inches of clearance as well.

I've thought about using tj rear flares, even thought about using genright rear tube tj style flares, at the end of the day I just couldn't put them on my CJ.
 
Its real simple. IF you don't put your Jeep in harms way, the stock fenders look great. BUT IF you put your Jeep in harms way. get real tube fenders before you ruin a nice stock set. Anything you do to mod a factory set is just messing up a stock set and building on a weak foundation. I use Poison Spyder stuff.

Looks like you need a tubular windshield frame also. :D

Wondering why he didn't remove it, or tie it down.
 
After hitting 3 deer in 2 weeks, I was forced to trim my fenders long before I wanted to. I like the flat fender look, although a bit weak with no reinforcement. And it came in handy when I went up to 36's for clearance.

Might build myself a set of tube fenders one day......
 
i'm kinda lookin at the xenon flat fender style flares, mix in some trimming and mount the flares. right now the jeeps in process, but should provide a start try out
