Jerking at 40mph and only in 3rd gear

New to forum..trying to resolve an issue. New Weber dbl barrel carb installed, idles fine and took it for a drive only to find that when it hits 40-45mph in 3rd gear it jerks and sputters. No issues in first or 2nd gear. Not sure where to begin but thinking fuel pump or vacuum hoses? Thanks!

From what I understand, the Weber needs 3-3.5 p.s.i of fuel pressure which a CJ fuel pump puts out a bit more than that and might require a fuel pressure regulator. You should refer to the Weber instructions or check that out online. Another possibility is that you are not getting enough pressure from a bad fuel pump. A fuel pressure gauge would help here.

I did the same Webber install. Had issues of too much fuel entering bowl, so much so that it poured out the vent when idling. Added a fuel pressure regulator set at 3 psi. Problem solved. Jeep runs like a top!

I appreciate the feedback. I adjusted regulator to 3.5 psi and issue was resolved! Thanks for your help!
