Build Thread JJ's 84 CJ7 Build
I figured it was time to start a build thread for this one...
Starting point: 1984 CJ7 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l T-176
It looks better than it is. There's some significant body filler hiding in there. I don't hate the color the PO chose though. The factory color was chestnut brown.
Todo List (in no particular order):
1. Finish Howell Fuel Injection Install
2. Re-wire dash harness. PO left me a rats nest of wires.
3. Address rust in cargo area floor pan.
4. Address rust in front floorboards.
5. Address rust on rocker panel(s)
6. New tires (dry rot)
7. Enhance the factory sport bar and build/buy a functional cage (wife requirement).
8. Engine - As far as engine health is concerned, it makes reasonable compression numbers. The leakdown test was questionable though (~30%). I probably need to address that at some point, but it sounded healthy enough and wasn't smoking.
I think I'm going to try to straighten out the wiring, finish the TBI install, and get some tires on it. I'd like to do that before summer is over so I can enjoy it until cooler weather sets in. Then I will probably tackle some of the other items.
