ON THE HUNT AGAIN
With the re-release of Jurassic park it got me to thinking about an idea I once had of building a jurassic park jeep (yj) of my own.
Buying a Jeep for Jurassic Park – Jurassic Jeep: 65 Million Years in the Making

However, in my stash of info I also know that a CJ metal dash and a CJ grill will swap into a YJ body.

This in turn lead me to thinking about a Jurassic CJ. Did a little searching and it seems noone has done it yet.

I'm still on the hunt for a jeep, but now I'm on hold yet again. As always it comes down to money and time.

Still a Jurassic CJ would be awsome.

Ok looking back on the Cj you once had what is the allure of this? Im just wondering. :) Theres a guy in my Jeep Club ( He actually turned me to Jeeps ) that has a Yj Sahara he bought new. Cant remember the exact year though.

I've always been a fan of movie cars. General Lee, Trigger, etc.
The jurassic jeep is pretty popular, however it is a yj. Having owned a yj in the past it's not bad it's mostly the square lights.
These days I spend more time on the road than in the woods so a more stock jeep would fit me better than like my 79 CJ5 was. But I live to tinker and a movie jeep might fit the bill, plus my son thinks the jurassic park movies are cool (he's 7).

First of all your boy is 7 already??? Im petty sure we had some internet conversation about car seats awhile back.

I cant tell you what to do but oh well. I kinda like the idea. The wheels and low stance kinda bug me. The fact that it will involve your son is huge!! How about you give it a mild lift and 31s? By the time your done the boy will be ready for upgrades and wheelin and camping, fishing time with Dad. Keep him involved through his teens. :)

Time flies when your having fun. Thats the general idea is to spark interest. He told me the other day we needed a project, then pointed out an old roadrunner LOL.

Dam the kids got good taste for his age. :D

Well I found a Jeep, it's in great shape. However it's a 4cyl, but has air. High mile but it was towed most of them. Still original seats carpet top. Also it's a yj.
Yeah I know but if I'm gonna build it for my sons jurassic inspiration, it's gotta be.
I can always fit a cj grill and dash in later.

Best of both worlds right there :chug:

Well got screwed on the YJ.
It was at a dealer, I looked at it but it was late in the day and I needed to come back.
I go back and it's out having the window zippers fixed. This is Tues.
I'm told it'll be back on Thurs, I'd get the first call when it's back and they set up an appt for me to come in Thurs to check it / buy it. I roll by wed. they say it's still out.
Thurs I get a call they say a sales person at the dealer bought it on Wed.
This was while it was still out being worked on, it was still out Thurs. like they said.
The sales bitch bought it while it was out before it got back.
It's nice to know where the dealers priority is, Fook the customer.

I read'em the riot act and informed the dealership/autogroup owner I wouldn't buy SH#& from any of their lots.

sorry to hear that.:( i think now a days you have to treat everybody like the government. "get it in writing or it didn't happen"

I was gonna toss down a deposit but they wanted $500 non-refundable, I was like on a 4k jeep, fook that, non-refundable why, wtf......ah well the hunt continues.

i just got thru a deal that fell thru, so i know what your going thru.

i found a CJ5 1985 by accident, was looking at a motor and tranny and the guy showed my this. well i was the cj body on a 79 chevy frame and drivetrain. motor and tranny and tc. all ran, it had the hood and fenders and everything. was gonna let it go for 800, i said well let me get you a deposit to hold it and i'll get the rest, well found out wed that he sold it before i could get him the money:mad: so like you, on the prowl again. (end of highjack)

That just goes to show you that it isn't like it used to be, in most places...

Where I live, I was given a mortgage on a hand shake 8yrs ago. . It helps to know the bank Owner, and he is your neighbor! All BS aside, I even have to fill out the paperwork there now, and my neighbor OWNS THE BANK! Can't beat em, might as well join em!:chug:
