I took my jeep up Kendal Mountain. The town of Silverton CO is next to this mountain.
Next is a view of Engineer mountain
Near the top I saw this Ptarmigan. This bird usually stays in the arctic circle. It comes down to Colorado only if it can stay above the tree line. It changes it's color throughout the year. In winter it's all white. It's always very camouflaged.
Then I got my jeep as high as possible. This is the end of the road. In the above picture you can see highway 550 as it goes over Molas Pass.
I continued on foot and climbed to the top of Kendal Mountain.
Looking back down I took this picture of the town of Silverton.
That will be our base camp for the 3rd Annual Colorado Jeep-CJ.com trail ride. Check out this link if you are interested: http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f100/announcing-3rd-annual-colorado-jeep-cj-trail-ride-17972/
Here's the view from the top
I created an interactive panorama on Dermandar.com. You guys have to check it out: Top of Kendal Mountain - Dermandar
On the way down I tried a fork that headed to the south. Had a nice trip.
