Key switch Lock Lever

I came across a problem with the key switch lock lever part of it broke off and it is aggravating to get the jeep to crank or return to the lock position, I seen a post on another site that stated you could do away with lock lever mechanism, does anyone know the procedure or where I can find it to do away with the lever that lets the key return to the lock position?

The locking device is nothing more than a metal rod that pokes up through a hole in the top metal plate just behind the steering wheel mount. It starts deep in the column near the key cylinder and is on a spring. Here is a picture of it.
You will have to take the column completely apart to get to it. Here is another picture of all the parts, so be prepared if you decide to do this.
