In a frame off rebuild for a long time...
A buddy asked my to help him remove a couple trees out of the front yard...The neighbors were sure entertained!

Pics and Videos here... they are kinda in reverse order, but make sure to watch Vid. 24!

Very entertaining!! The CJ sound really healthy. I just dont know if I would do the removal of the trees like that but it looked like fun.

I love this pic!

It would have been better if my buddy hadn't decided to de-rig the strap right then   The sun really messed with the camera on that one, I yelled at my bride for messing up the pic by playing with the camera, but she didn't touch the effects settings...

I've taken out a bunch of trees this way, but these are numbers 2 & 3 using the CJ. Normally I used an old F-250 Hiboy I had. Boy, I miss that truck!

We work on a very small budget around here! Why pay someone else to do the stump removal? And I like to play at tearing stuff up. :chug:

The healthy sounds of the CJ are an illusion...I have been fighting a flooding carb for weeks! But I'm getting ready to swap engines for my spare 360 (stock) so I can rebuild/strengthen this one.

Great pics. I never thought of using mine for tree removal but it sure makes me regret paying 200 dollars for a tree removal service last fall. I had a tree destroying beast sitting in my drive way the entire time and I didn't even know it!

Good Job with the removal! :chug:
That's how I removed a bunch of juniper bushes and a few small trees a few months ago. I had several that wouldn't come out nicely, so I had to get a run on them. The roots on some of them things can be very strong.

I was getting ready to lay a brick patio in my backyard. There was a stump right next to the house that had to go. We hooked a brand new chain to the stump and to the truck. Stan pulled it taught, then got on it. Nothing. So, he backed up a little, got a little run at it, and POW! The stump is still in the ground. The chain broke. And now I have a dent in my tailgate. It wouldnt bother me if the truck was older, but its only a few years old. I would have liked to keep it decent. But at least now, he put the first dent in it, so it doesnt matter what I do now :)

Thats why I top the trees so tall, to get the leverage needed to yank it out of the ground.
When we removed a few 70-80 ft alders at my Grandmother's place a few years ago, I just set the strap (OH, NEVER use a chain! My straps are 8" across and designed to unstick heavy equipment) about 30 foot high and used about 100 FT of strap. Lifted the ol' F-250 3 foot in the air every time I made a run at it! Wish I still had the vids of that one!
