Replaced everything up front, old dog can attest. My issue is that turning the wheel doesnt affect steering all the way. I have to drive whipping the wheel back and forth. I have a new column, box, pump etc.....basically my steering input results in a fraction of turning output

Yeah, 4 degree shims, steel, old dog helped me with those angles.

:)Germy,...........Sounds purely mechanical........You just need to start at the steering wheel with someone behind it and watch the 1:1 movement as you move down stream from there through the steering shafts, gear box until you get to the Tie rod ends , spindles , ball joints and wheel bearings..........if it is doing what you say ....it will show up.........the movement that is!

:D:D:D:D

Ive been through it and replaced everything. Its between the box and wheel, new steering shaft. Anything in the wheel connection to look?

Are you sure you got the right steering box? have you changed your steering wheel to a smaller after market unit. really the only mechanical part of your steering system that can cause a issue like that is the box itself. you may have gotten a slower ratio box where it takes more turns to move it it. Im assuming that every turn of the wheel makes some amount of turn just niot as fast as you want?

Have you gotten all the air out of the system while making sure the reservoir is still full? Air bubbles may be compressing and giving it a slow reaction. Check the res. for bubbles or foam. Cycling it from stop to stop several times should clear them. Is the belt tight?
Also check your gear box mounting bolts for any that may not have gotten torqued.
Just throwing some ideas out there.

Air may be the culprit, never checked. Ive got the box on steel plate with a crossmember. Ill give air a shot. Check the bolts again, but i see no flex there.

Where is bleeder on ps gear box

Ok. The write up said there was a bleeder valve.
Interesting, when I installed and bled my replacement power steering box, I used the instructions that came with the box, i'll have to go thru that again. It was a Cardone rebuilt box.

:)As it circulates through the system the fluid tank is vented to atmosphere and any air bubbles escape there.

I just turned the wheels back and forth all the way till there wasn't any more bubbles. Worked for me.
