Last fall my 85 CJ developed some slop in the stearing and it would appear as though the leaf spring bushings are warn. I am looking for polyurethane preferably yellow bushings but am having trouble finding yellow and Just Jeeps in Canada has told me that I need to know the make of the shackles as they are an aftermarket 1 1/2" lift. Any suggestions on make and if I can just order standard bushings or if I do indeed need to know the make of the shackles?

There are two types of spring shackle bushing, oem and aftermarket. The front bushings are a bit shorter in length due to the width of the leaf spring.

The only yellow poly bushings available are for Old Man Emu springs and I'm pretty sure they are a different diameter so they just fit THEIR springs. Trust me, I've looked everywhere for yellow poly parts, especially the t.r.e. boots. Energy Suspension used to make them but every manf. discont. colors except for red and black, supposedly due to low demand. I just recently found probably the last sway bar bushings to exist, in yellow poly.

The make of the shackles is irrelevant, not sure what they're thinking. Stock ones or aftermarket matters because most poly's don't work well because stock ones are designed to work with rounded rubber ends /sides, not thick flat ones. Stock shackles are stamped steel.
