Got my poly suspension bushings in and started installing em. Had no problems with the front shackle bushings, but the spring eye bushings are another story. Keep in mind that my u-bolt nuts are not coming off, rusted too tight and I already broke a ratchet. Luckily it was an old beat up one anyhow. So I'm doing this without completely removing the springs. I cant seem to get the old spring eye bushing out, even after hours of fooling with it. Anyone have any tips how I can get this sucker out? And does the metal sleeve around the rubber come out as well? I hope so, since I banged it up pretty well.... thanks in advance.

Try using a propane torch or better yet, a oxy torch. Don't het too much to damage to spring. Steel bushing should push out.

yep, propane or map torch and just burn them out.

getts the bushings burnin good and then push them out with a hammer handle or other piece of wood/whatever.

aint never tried it with the springs still on a jeep though, might just pick up some new u bolts and a sawzall will take the old ones off really quick...................................chris

Alright, picked up a propane torch and burnt em out. The metal sleeves were still a PITA to drive out though! Took a hacksaw and the torch, but I won! I can say that it doesn't help having to sit under the vehicle while doing this. A sawzall and new u-bolts crossed my mind, but I just wanted to get the bushings in for now. U-bolts will be changed soon enough. Thanks for the help!!

I used to take a die grinder with a carbide burr and put a groove in rather than use a hack saw. Then just tap it out with a punch.
