1977 CJ 7; Amc 401 .30 over, Howell TBI, modified Dana 20 with Terra Low gears and twin sticks, NV 4500 5-speed, modified Dana 30 and Amc 20 both with 4.56 gears (narrow track), ARB air lockers front and rear, SSBC rear disc brake conversion, MICO Brake park brake, Navaho brake booster/ master cylinder, PowerTank CO2 tank.
I used a JKS YJ adjustable track bar and cut it down 8" to fit my narrower frame. Made a mount on the frame and the top of the diff. I should have rewelded the C'S to the correct caster angle. At the time this seemed easyer and it has worked well for a few years now. You can lock it down tight for driving on the road then loosen the bolt in the middle and it allows it to slide so you don't lose articulation. It stopped the death wobble.

:)Purple.........Thanks for the photo's always interested in different approaches and mods..... so are you saying the caster angle is off and the track bar was installed to cancel the lack of angle & death wobble?
How do you like your quicker sway bar links?

Thanks again,

Yes, with a 4.5" lift and shackle reversal the caster angle is about 1 or 2 degrees. I tried degree shimes but it put the u joint angle below the bottom of the diff. I was looking at a YJ one day and they have a factory track bar, so I thought that would work for me. It has stopped death wobble so I can drive it down the road. Before it was pretty scary. The "C"s should be rewelded to the correct caster angle. More work than I thought I could do. Right now it works for me, so I am leaving it as is.
The quicker sway bar disconnects work great. Easyer to remove than other styles. To put them back on you have to be on level ground, so some times it's a little tough to find a spot on the trail that is level to reinstall them. But once level they slip right on.

:)Purple..............Cutting the C's off is really not that much work as compared to the work to R & R the front axle pull it apart and get it ready to cut.
I also like the quicker disconnects ........I've seen a few guys just carry a small pry bar and just tweak the sway bar a little if it's not on level ground and with that tapered pin they go right in. Thanks for the photos & reply.

Here's mine. I made it from DOM tubing, a bushing end and a ball joint. It doesn't have a slip system and it does reduce the articulation a bit, but not enough for me to worry or care about.

The water drops are from the rain. Nothing more serious.

:)csuengr!............I think a system of keeping the leave springs upright is important while they twist on shackles & rubber bushings during high speed driving and braking..... but obviously less important while off road when you want the movement & flexibility.........I have seen numerous attempts via wishbones and two-link track bars but really nothing that complements both ends of the spectrum............Everything is just a compromise. Good job &
Thanks for the pictures.
