Now that the carburator work is finally getting completed I'm moving on to other delayed projects. One easy one was to add LED bulbs to the indicator lights in the Speedometer housing. As I was removing the old radio for an updated one I had access to the back of the Speedomter and it turned into just a simple plug-n-play. What a difference, especially on the dim turn signals. Not my idea though, a lift of the lynch lid to Gary R. Here's the link;
LED Dash Lights - JeepForum.com

I too replaced the lights in my dash with LEDs. :chug: I love LEDs. :drool: Not only are they bright, but they produce a much lower heat than does a comparable filament light. I also bought my LEDs for the dash in the right color, ;) not just all white, i.e. green for turn signals, yellow for 4wd, etc. I would suggest that if your buying a replacement bulb, that you get one with forward facing LEDs. :D Here are some examples:

This bulb diverts light to the side, which is ineffective in the Speedometer.

This bulb is better, but still has wasted side light.

This bulb would be the best choice.

To find the right bulb for you, do a search for a BA9S T11. Also be sure the length is correct for your application. Just a side note, I have yet to find a LED bulb that will work in a tail light. Only the complete LED sealed tail lights are bright enough. Side marker lights are different, I'm talking stop and turn signal combos.

I really dig these too, and I was so impressed with the brightness and cool to the touch feature, I put LEDs behind the meters in my trusty old Cobra 142GTL.

<~~ of course it helps to have everthing else completed under the dash before you swap these out. :rolleyes: Go figure, I had to reconnect the speedomter cable when at first I thought I'd have to remove it for this upgrade, wound up disconnecting the LED for the High Beam indicator. Had to dive under the dash again to reconnect it, would be easier iof I weren't a Hurdy Gurdy Man (<~ Donovan)
