I put some LED taillights and with the light switch on nothing in the led lights works. With the light switch off, the turn signals work. I understand that there is some voltage difference with led lights.

I have installed led lights for testing equipment, and had to install a resistor to cut down the voltage. In your case, I would think they would be installed in the light assembly. I would hope you have or could get installation instructions.

I used an oval shaped trailer light for the rear lights.

My buddy had the same issue torxhead is correct, you have to add a resistor. I'm sure someone on here has them and I can't remember where he got his but here is a link that may help.

Tail light and Turn Signal LED Bulbs Fix

I bought some LED lights that have a small incandescent light bulb in it to make resistance. It is mounted in the back of the light fixture. Maybe some thing like that would work for you. I think it would be cheap and easy to do.

I think you have another problem. If it was the the amperage, what the resistor is for, the blinkers would not work. also the blinkers should not work unless you have installed a solid state flasher for the blinkers and hazard lights. This just keeps getting better, doesn't it??

I had a problem with my 74 CJ5 where i wouldnt get any turn signal. (Have LED lights in rear and normal in front) Chased wires did everything i could think of. Come to find out that my front bulb for my turn signal wasnt making contact for the turn but worked for the run lights. cleaned the socket up and replaced the bulb everything starting working right again. Might be worth a shot to check the conectors.

I guess I blew both lights. I have everything up to the lights but they don't work. I'm just gonna go back with stock lights. We carry them at orielly for pretty cheap.

So how did you blow the bulbs?

I just finished installing LED's all around except for the front grill lights. I got some flashers from advanced, maybe 7 bucks a piece, they did not say LED on them but they were labled as "better." This fixed all my flasher problems....then I noticed that my brakes stopped working. They would sometimes come on very dim, but usually nothing happened, I replaced the 25 fuse with a 30 and all is well now. Hope this helps.
