My left rear is sagging a little bit lower than the rest of the jeep (1974 CJ5 ) I replaced the shock obsorber, didnt fix it. My next step is replaceing the springs. Anybody have any other ideas? A coworker of mine suggested swapping the left rear and the right front springs to see if that fixed it, any input on this?
Thanx

I am having the same problem, I went to look up getting a new shock and all I found were shocks that are nothing like mine, I have three springs, and then the little wanna be spring under that(does that even count as a spring?) How can I measure the length or something to figure out if my springs mounts are even capable of standard replacement springs? I ask this because NOTHING on my jeep is standard, SBC 350, gm Transmission , ?? Transfer Case , GM power steering, etc, so why should the springs be correct right.

I wouldn't bother with swapping the springs, if one is lower then the other, you just going to move the sag from one side of the CJ to the other. Spring sag is a common occurrence for old springs. A new shock will not help sag.

If you have access to a good spring shop you could have BOTH rear springs rearched but they may revert back to their prior state quickly...

Your best option is to buy a new set of springs (4) and replace them. A new lift kit which includes the springs, shocks and hardware is really your best option.

To find out the type of spring, measure the width of the spring as well as the distance between the mounts on the frame. Those dims will give us a way to tell what version you have.

when I get the dimensions should I just post them back here as I cannot find anything like that on the merchant sites.

Yes, post them here. Also, give us the distance between the spring perches on the diff.

Thank you, I'll post the specs later as it is PORING here, and I have to go see my son's concert:D. I 'll probably have them tonight thought.
