In '59 there were 3 different CJ models made. But the CJ5 was the only model made in both 1959 and 1982. Is it safe to assume we are talking about two Jeep CJ5 's? If so the '82 has a hood that is 3 inches longer than that of the '59.

I'm guessing you mean width?
The 59 won't have firewall cutouts for brakes pedals, steering column, heater motor, or master cylinder as the newer CJs.
The 59 will have the heater box on the upper left of the FW as well

- 1979 Jeep CJ7 TH400 Automatic 258 I6 Quadratrac Amc 20 rear & Dana 30 front, 32 x 11.5 x 15 tires. Currently a Complete Custom Rebuild in progress.
Also I own a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, White, all stock with 4.0L. automatic, and police package. Best part of that is it came with leather seats! This package also has the NP242 Transfer Case, 8.25 rear end, and trailer towing package.
This has been a really BIG problem for a lot of people. I wrote CJ about it but never heard anything.
