Who here has a line lock in their jeep? I have one in my CJ5 with twin sticks and it works great.

Pictures? details? I've been kicking this around for some time, just haven't done the research and I think with my next build-up phase, the addition of a linelock will be in the plans.

Do you use in in place of the ebrake or what do you like most about it. I have heard you shouldn't do that but it would be nice to get rid of the cable and :dung: under there.

I will have to get some pictures later im 400 miles away from my jeep right now. but a little bit of info about this, it works great when your on a very steep incline and need more control with throttle and clutch. you know what im talking about having to run the brake and throttle at the same time it just dosnt work out. With this i can push the brake flip a switch take my foot off the brake then sit there. when im ready to go i can just flip the switch that turns off the linelock and sets the brakes free. well i have to go for now so more on this later.

This dosnt get rid of your e brake it just helps with front digs when your in a tight spot.

You want to keep the cable. If you break a brake line the line lock is of no use.

I am up in the air about this mod, I mean there is so much I could use before it. I have friends with it and they give good praise on some days and disc it the next.

A line lock sounds like a good idea and I'm sure it works great. Summit has a setup for $66, which is pretty inexpensive as far as Jeep mods go.

However, I am wondering if you could adapt an e brake setup from a TJ? That way you use one hand to hold the brake and no mod to the brake lines......on the other hand, it would probably much quicker and as good or better to simply instal the line lock.

Did six for a friend, one for the front and one one for the rear... Then one for each brake, it was what he wanted. He could activate each one with a toggle switch (after hitting the brakes).

I'm getting a headache just thinking about that.

I just ran across my old one I took off my old work truck ('66 GMC COE 2 ton with a 16' flatbed) years ago. lol I might just have to install it on the ol' '74 one day...

Do it they work great. O another thing ive used mine for is winching others out of mud holes

Help me understand why 6? Why not 4?

so he doesnt have to throw two switches to lock either axle?

How often do you see beer come in a 4-pack? Whaddya gonna do with the 2 extra ones? :D
It's just a good thing CJ didnt bring a 12 or an 18-pack

Okay, trying to get the principle of this. I understand why you would want these on a dragster, but on a 4x4 it seems they would only be beneficial if....
1. you don't have lockers.
2. the wheel you are trying to stop individually is off the ground.

Otherwise, the stopped tire would only be a drag point, impeding forward motion. Since you are trying to stop 1 wheel and the line locks only stop the fluid, wouldn't you have to activate 3 to stop one?

Now if you had hydro-assist and were able to individually stop a wheel by activating 1 solenoid, and didn't have lockers then I could see the benefit.

My reason for installing one, would be for a backup to the Ebrake, and as a way to lock all 4 wheels when I am winching.

Single locks can be used to pivot a vehicle around an axle (many use a hand brake lever instead). Lock one wheel, shift the Transmission to neutral (need a twin stick) and turn as far to the locked wheel as possible - kinda acts like a pivot - picture a zero turn lawn mower. It's not perfect but does help.

Watch this it will help explain this jeep has a Atlas Transfer Case so he can do a front dig. Im thinking about putting two line locks in my CJ7 im building im going to put an ARB locker in the rear. Poison Spyder Customs , on Rocker Knocker - YouTube
