In a frame off rebuild for a long time...
What is it with people that post ads to sell something, and refuse to set a price on said items. :censored:
I am looking at a couple parts for my CJ, so I emailed the guy saying I was interested. He sends me back an email (no pics) saying to make an offer on the stuff. And goes on to say one of the items (a steering column) is missing the turn signal cam and wiring, and the ignition switch. Now how am I supposed to know how he got the parts out, if he destroyed them in the process or not?? How do you put a price on that?

Sorry for the rant, I just can't figure this out. :chug:

Im willing to bet the key switch gave up the ghost, and when he went in to replace it found the signal cam was cracked. I have 2 tilt columns sitting in my shed with the same issue. If it's a tilt, I'd offer him 40 bucks for it, provided all the parts are there.

he says he took the parts out for the column currently in his jeep now.

That is precisely why I hate buying stuff from people on line, unless I am going through ebay or Amazon. Try "googling" this guy and see if any :dung: about him comes up.

yup, just like I thought. Broken stuff in the column, steal it from anotherone. Never understood doing that as the parts are available and pretty inexpensive.

Sounds a bit extreme. I usually just avoid questionable items unless I'm positive that I can at least turn around and resell it (with an honest description, of course) to get my money back. Otherwise, I find that it's not worth the trouble and will pay extra for the peace of mind.

As far as not naming a price, I think there are just times when someone doesn't know what something is worth. I know that the fear is offering more than the seller would be willing to take, but you can always start low and see what happens. :)

But yes, naming a price is indeed much easier for both parties in the end, so I know where you're coming from.
