The one on left looks to be a 11" drum....
Used on the Big Brake Package on the CJ for like two years it was 76-78 if not mistaken. Also used on some of the
Dana 44 rear alxes in the early 70's.
I have a 1978 with the big brake package....... larger rear drum of 11" x2 and a larger diameter rotar that is thicker too. This is a better brakeing package and is desirable.
My 1978 has a
AMC20 rear axle with the big brake drums.... odd ball that is desirable..... I changed my rear to a HD
Dana 44 rear axle from 1974/1975 and it has the same large 11" drums.... the big drums....and big brakes. I did some checking and the
Dana 44 and
AMC20 BigBrake use the same drums and brake parts...... They are interchangeable. Pretty cool for my swap because order brake parts for 1978 and will still get the same large 11" x2 drum, shoes, and spring/hardware that will fit the
Dana 44 Rear.
The back plate that holds the brake shoes and parts is most likely NOT the same for the big brake and std brake packages. So small and large drums cannot be exchanged.
That is background info...
Now about yours....
1973, 1974, 1975 CJ had a
Dana 44 rear, a HD 44. I think this went back to 1972 but not sure....
???? So do you have a
Dana 44 Rear End????
If you do have a
Dana 44 then you most likely have the 11"x2" drums. The one on the right. Do not mix the large and small drum.... since they have diff diameter they will grab/stop with a different amount of force and will cause some pulling of vehicle when breaking.
