Good evening all, I have been busy studying, and still single parenting and slowly building the odd free evening, anyway I my current setup is a '77 CJ5 on 35x12.5's and a 4" lift,

I just installed a brand new 2.5" lift, and will be mounting some new 33x10.5's next week. The really odd thing is, my jeep looks higher? with the new 2.5" suspension.... Now I realize I should have taken a measurement from jeep to ground.... But I didn't.

So my question is, how the heck is this possible? it might just be in my head but also my drive shaft looks more extended now and at a sharper angle, I used the shims marked 2.5" they gave me, there was also a thinner set marked 2 degrees? the instructions were super vague,

As always any tips would be much appreciated.

Just a guess but it probably looked higher because you went to smaller tires which will give you more from from tire to fender so you are seeing more.

Does it feel higher when you climb in and out?

Actually haven't put the smaller tires on yet, they delivered 4 tires and 3 wheels yesterday.... and it's a long weekend so I will not even see the last wheel until at least Tuesday.

I was starting to wonder if the old suspension was so worn out that it had sagged more than the 1.5" I just lowered it.

It looks higher, but also the drive shaft angle looks more aggressive.

They were probably just worn and exhausted tired metal. Maybe someone loaded the jeep down back in the day and stretched them. Or the optical illusions thing.

The new springs will settle some.
