LS Engine LS Engine No Signal to Coil

Hey all, I have a 2001 4.8L vortec in my jeep and it has been great! On a drive today it started losing power and smelling rich. I limped it home and diagnosed no spark at #3. I verified the coil was good by trying it on another cylinder and then checked for voltage. The green wire (signal) is showing 0V. Why would the ECM not signal the coil?

I think I figured it out. There was a spot that had been rubbing on a bracket on the back of the engine and the signal wire was shorting to ground.

Glad you have it repaired, Chevy LS are not many of us forte'...
