After two weeks of PD blaster ‘treatments’ I started pulling off the stock bracket, but of course I had one rusted and snapped bolt that fought me for 3 hours!

I have two questions/concerns. First off my steering box only has 3 points we’re I can bolt the bracket too, it’s a manual box. Second, any tips on how to fix the stripped shackle hanger bolt? Thanks dan-

You might be able to drill out the stripped nut and insert a helicoil or repair insert. You should be able to access to top of the nut by removing the front bumper. I have heard of guys welding in replacement nuts. I see you are using the oem spring shackle hangar, There is a rivet clearance hole in it which is a common breaking point when high lift springs are added. Good luck steering a set of 35s with manual steering.

The stripped nut is 7/16", IIRC.
Just retap to 1/2x13thd.
You want a 4-flute tap for this, as those frame nuts are very hard.
You also want good cutting oil.....
Can't help you about the 'box'.

I have to replace a lot of things... Crabtree is on that very long list.

Thanks for the advise, and I have very good luck steering w/35s don’t even use a stabilizer anymore, I get a lot of guff about my lack of power options lol but I never put myself in a position I know I can’t get out or through. I know the limitations of my cj in her current phase lol

+1

Use a good fluid such as Tap Magic

Not a fan of heli-coils or time-serts unless its a blind hole

Crabtree shackles are bombproof, you won't regret that decision.

I had their shackles on my 77’-7 before I sold her... but this go round I think I’m going to get the hangers and shackles, go figure I only wanted to beef up the box bracket, and I end up spending 650 bux I was wanting to use on a motorcraft/MSD ignition... And I still don’t know if my bracket is good mounted with only three of the four holes.

Are you talking about the steering box only having 3 mounting holes? If so, then yes, it will be fine. Is common for power steering boxes to only have 3 mounting bolts too.
