So I want to make my own shackles i've been looking around and kind of lost on the difference between straight and boomerang shackles. I have a 2 1/2" suspension lift on my jeep right now so I was thinking about doing the 1/2" boomerang shackle lift.

Here are the measurements of my shackles that were on there

Length-4"
Center top hole to Center bottom home- 2 3/4"
Width- 1.400"
Thickness is less then a 1/4"

SO I really don't like those measurements, here will be the new measurements for the new boomerang ones if I make them well heres a pic i'll be doing the middle one.

Please guys i need some input on all this.
Thanks :chug:

what do boomerang shackles accomplish?

The 3/16 thick should be fine for strength. I have seen both boomerang and straight. Idk what the difference is. Nice drawings BTW.:notworthy:

i forgot to ask do i need 2 shackles per leaf? or how do these things work? cause on my jeep right now it seems like I only have on stock shackle per leaf and the other is well im not sure...

Yes. You will need to make 8 of those shackles.

This won't be too expensive Dear! That's what I keep saying. Over and over again.

this is one shackle.

Correction: You will need to make eight of what you have pictured. Assembled, this will make 4 shackles.

Hey I was going to do a 1/2" shacked lift but am now thinking about a 1" I already have a 2 1/2" suspension do y'all think 1 inch would be to much? Will the shackles hang to low?

The way I see it, the longer shackles will tend to flatten out the spring arch plus they will sway more from side to side, especially with lockers. I would think making them a 1" longer than stock or 1/2" lift should be max or at least keep it to a minimal length. Plus put a brace between them for stability.

:)And as far as the thickness of the material I would not go below 5/16" thick in fact 3/8" is better yet..........3/16" is way too thin.

:D:D:D:D

I agree with tarry99 3/16 is too thin. I used 5/16 for mine (stock length)but 3/8 would be better especially if your going longer than stock.

Great responses lol, but my flippin phone wend dead  and I bought 1/4" Flat Steel material. I'm not sure if I'm going to do 1/2" shackle lift or just stock yet, I guess for better handling stock but for more clearance but not much 1/2"...

Thanks :chug:

Decided to stay stock size although the ones that I previously had on my jeep were 4" the new ones will be 5" long.

Thanks Again Everyone will take pictures as soon as there done. :chug:

And here they are........I made them out of 883 Flat Steel was trying to get 1018 but oh well dimensions are 3/8x2x6 with 29/64 holes and a 1" radius on corners.
