Marine Carburetor

My Edelbrock 1406 died and I was given a Carter 1409, marine carb. They are basically identical, however the 1409 doesn't have the vacuum advance port. Anyone have experience using these? Can I drill out the port or possible find vacuum from another source? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Marine carbs are made to run at a steady RPM.
The lack of vacuum ports is another reason they aren't seen on cars.
What's wrong with the 1406, that a rebuild won't fix?

A rebuilt would fix it, I was just trying to keep it on the road until I have time to rebuild the 1406. Thanks for the info!

You can rebuild the carb in a couple of hours at most.
NAPA will have the kit needed.
