Hello,

After I mounted my new master cylinder for manual brakes, I was attempting to reconnect the push rod to the brake linkage and the push rod pulled out of the master cylinder.

Needless to say I freaked out for a minute but I just simply reinserted it and it seems to work fine.

Is that all there is to the pushrod connection to master cylinder? It just inserts in there? Did I damage something having the push rod pull out like that?

Appreciate the responses!

Well the brake pedal does travel higher upon release after the push rod pulled out (I had connected it once already to linkage but had to remove) and I reconnected it. Something must have happened. I read somewhere about a thin disk that holds it back but this can break.....?

Anyway, I could not find much on the internet or the service manual regarding this so given the unknown information, the fact that the pedal rides higher after reinstall which was after the push rod fell out so something might have broke, and a new master cylinder costs only about $40......

I'll just get another new one and be more gentle with the install.

Oh well.

Can't answer your question, but after a bad experience with a rebuilt MC from Advance Auto, I purchased a new MC from Napa. Very happy with quality and performance.

Picked up and installed new master cylinder recommended by mdeluca.

Feels much better than the one that the push rod fell out of. Something must have broke on the first new one I installed. Oh well, more spare parts to store!
