I recently got a re manufactured MC2100 on ebay from a guy that several people had recommended. Initially, it came out of the box working pretty good but then started having problems with it. I was having to engage the choke as I drove it and the idle was absolutely horrible. It would start to stumble so I'd pull the choke on then have to let it off to accelerate from a start. I pulled the top of the carb this weekend and was running it to check the wet level of the float bowl. I noticed two problems, one being that in order to get the fuel level at the point where it will idle the float is to high and will hit the cover. Also, when I turned the motor off I hear a gurgling sound and look in to the throat of the carb and there was gas pouring in to it. Something isn't closing off inside the carburetor and seems to be leaking gas in to it. The fuel was coming from the venturis and misting from a hole between the venturis. Any ideas?

One guess would be check the needle seat for tightness and look for any tiny obstructions at the seat. I once had a problem with a new carb that was missing a vent hole in the bowl gasket causing it to run quite rich.

Needle seat leak'n and ck your fuel line psi.
Also confirm float adjustment.

Anyone know offhand what the fuel level from the top of the bowl should be? I have a gauge with a tick mark but no idea as to what it actually should be? I see measurements vary from .875" to 5/16".

Did you set your timing before you installed the carb?

if your timing is real low and you have your carb set to be adding fuel to keep the engine running, then you will always be shoving fuel down its throat.

what size are your jets? should be 47's!
what is your idle rpm? 650!
what is your timing? 6-8!
do you have a bypass on your fuel filter? should!
how many turns from bottom are your idle jets? about 3!
how much thread is set on the idle screw? about an 1/8th!

I have never had to run a regulator on a 2100.
