to you guys with motorcraft carbs, how many turns out on the mixture screws do you have. mine seems like it wont run right no more or less than 2 turns out.

That adjustment is pretty dependent on what altitude you live at, but 2 turns out from just stalling the engine is a good place to start. My Holley Truck Avenger actually recommends exactly that, in fact.

I'm sure you have checked for any vacuum leaks in the engine, correct? That will make it run leaner than normal.

i saw on one website that there is a vaccum port in the middle of the baseplate that goes to the choke. they say to put a bb in the hole to block it off. i think i might have a leak there but not sure if this info is good. i have a manuel choke so if i need to block it off it wont mess that up.

Mine are right about 2 turns out. Somewhere in between 2 and 2 1/2. Mine actually runs better a little rich. My understanding for most carbs is the baseline to start the idle/air adjustments is 2 turns out.

As for the vacuum port, it depends on the carb. Some of them have them, some of them don't. You definately want any ports that aren't used to be plugged. I don't know about using a bb, the rubber vacuum port caps will work fine.

Mine run best at 2 1/4 turns out and also x2 on just using rubber vacuum plugs on unused ports.

ill have to see about a little more. i know over 2.5 will foul my plugs. ill let you figure out how i know that lol.

Howd I miss this one? Anyway my '85 ran real nice at 2 full turns. Maybe just a very slight tweak more.
