About a year and a half ago I decided it was finally time to buy my first CJ. I debated over the 5 or 7 for a while and ultimately chose the CJ5 as I found to see far less of them on the road (even though most people are unaware of the differences, current readers most likely excluded) and figured it'd be more unique.

I was lucky enough to find this one on craigslist for $700, the frame was in great shape and the engine fired up with minimal work. Here is the first picture of "The Heap" after I unloaded it at my parent's barn.

The tub is a little too rusted to be fixed without worrying about future rot, I'm currently looking into a fiberglass replacement

Frame to be wire brushed down and coated with some bedliner. I also need a new cross member for the rear of the frame, the old will be cut out. Anyone know where to get a replacement?

I've acquired an acme hardtop and doors, pretty good shape but will need some love!

also picked up a borg warner T-18 which has been said to be "nuke-proof"

Now I seem to be running into the problem of finding a new tub for a reasonable price. I've looked around for a whole jeep to part out with a decent tub but nothing found so far. I've also looked online and I've contacted a few places. Kentrol seems to be the best fiberglass tub out there but I'm not so eager to spend the 2600 to purchase and have it shipped. Does anyone have any suggestions???

a rear crossmemeber replacement can be purchased from >>>>4wd.com>>>> or >>>>quadratec.com>>>>for relatively cheap.

Decided to fab a rear crossmember instead. This weekend the frame will be hit with a sandblaster and coated with Al's truck bed liner. Brake lines will be bent and a 4'' rough country suspension will be installed.

I'm still looking for tubs, does anyone out there have any suggestions at all???
