Well I have been busting my :censored: to get my CJ to "trip ready" status for a few months now...

The other night, Friday, I got ancie, and since I am quitting smoking just had the seriouse case of the "go's".

Called my Uncle up and told him i was finishing welding up my body mounts, the last 2 of the broken 5 my jeep came with, Bolting in my back seat, and needed to get out of town.

Sat AM I left my house at 6:AM. Cooler packed, sleeping bag, 12 Guage, and pleanty of candy, beef jerky, sunflower seeds, and gum (again quitting smoking  )

Showed up at uncles. My Brother, Uncle, Aunt, and 3 little cousings all packed in our 2 CJ's and got out of town!

I love driving next to rivers!

So we pull over at a campgrounds day use area, China Flat, to let the young folk (and myself included) stretch and run a little, while we have a cold beverage and basque in the greatness that is the outdoors...

IMG_0362.jpg

And my Jeep is happy to be here...

IMG_0367.jpg

And finally we start getting off the road and on some trails... Anyone who has been here, Kyburz, CA, knows there are a vast amount of trails and county dirt roads to explore... So we dive in...

Little Cousins are having a great time too!!!

IMG_0378.jpg

So we're all having a great time, and then this rock on the side of the trail starts mocking me! :poke:

No since I am a firm believer in keeping the sport alive and not causing un needed bad "views" of off roaders and Jeepers, Tread lightly stuff, I can't go all the way over it, but it's still mocking me...

IMG_0396.jpg

So we decide to show it whos boss... (yes I know I have issues... )

As you can see, we never really get "off" the trail completly

My front Ring and pinon are blown, so 4L is out of the question... Rock wins kinda... this trip... But were not put out. :notworthy:

So we find a nice spot to SAFELY shoot off the mossberg

I should mention, though we are not a Obama / Oprah site, that we are extreemly safe and responsible when discharging firearms. We've got a large dirt mount backstop and pick up all our spent shells:cool: Again, we do not do anything to hurt the image of our community of alike interest folks...

:D:D:D:shooter:

Then we find a nice camp for the night. Way at the end of a trail we spot a large fire ring with a river a stones throw away... Looks like camp for tonight!

I'm Happy!!! Out of the city! And away from those millions of stores with cigarretts...

IMG_0407.jpg

Although I fell of a log while trying to act young still with the little cousins in the stream below camp... So I lay up in my old jeep for a while...

IMG_0406.jpg

Then next morning, we wake up, cook some bacon and eggs, and hit a few more trails before heading home to relax before Monday...

Sad to have left... But I'll be back.. Probably this weekend, and hopefully with a fully charged Camera, for more of the off road Action...

Moral of the thread...

Had an awesome time,
Still not smoking
and found out Kyburz, CA is awesome for light trail riding and exploration!

WOW what an incredibly clean windshield.:D

I wish I could get away for a weekend someplace where I would need a sweatshirt.

Not sure why the windshield is so clean either  I didn't even wash it before leaving... I had it off a few months ago and cleaned and repainted the frame etc. Cleaned it then...

Yes it was nice to be around a fire with a light long sleeve shirt / windbreaker in the AM... By the time breakfast and coffee was done, and it started getting sunny, had to shed back down to the short sleeve though

:chug:

Looks like you had a great time.:chug:
I sure wish I could quit smoking.:(

It's easy, bypass surgery and a valve replacement, major motivation.
seriously , smoking is just something to do when you don't want to do anything. just make it a point to do something else when you don't want to do anything.
throw away your lighter, don't buy them and don't hang out with people that are smoking.
the first month is the hardest and after that it gets easier.

nothing more self righteous than a whore in church and/or a reformed smoker. its fun you'll like it:D

Nice man, you guys are wheeling old school with some nice CJ5 's. Thats a nice change to see over people in XJ's trying to climb the biggest rock wall on a trail. Just some good old fashion trail running.
