Really sorry to hear that Pete. :(
My old dog is 13 this year, so I know his time is coming. I just took him hunting last Sat., we only walked a few miles and I though I was going to have to carry him back to the truck.

Looks like a fine dog, sorry to hear

Always tough. I have two shepherds that are going on 9 and I keep wondering. Sorry for your loss.

Did this myself a couple of months back, it sucks.

Sorry to hear about your loss Pete. I expect all of us with dogs in this community feel your pain.

Thats tough sorry to hear about your loss.

I am so very sorry to hear about this Pete - I know you guys (your family) really loved him and almost lost him last year. I know you had a special bond with this friend....I will be thinking of your loss...Its a tough thing...Animals have a way of making up for the shortcomings we humans are so good at...Take care

Pete, sorry for your loss it is a terrible thing to go through. I have always been a Great Dane guy and they don't live as long as some other breeds so I know how you feel.

Lost my last one at 7 and this one is 8 next month.

Not spoiled or anything.

For all the give us it just isn't right we out live them like we do.

Take care, thinking of you.

Lost my Shepard last spring to Lymes.

Never easy.

Think of the fun and good times. That always makes me smile.

Condolences on the loss of your friend. I lost both mine recently from old age and it putting down my girl was one of the most emotionally painful things Ive experienced. I hope they are all in a good place now.

Sorry to hear that Pete. I had to put one of mine down almost a year ago, it is tough. I have one left and he is 12. They become part of your family that is for sure!

Sorry Pete, it's never easy.

Sorry for your loss Pete. It's never easy to lose a good dog. Sometimes it would seem easier to lose a wife! (just kidding ladies, calm down) ;) Beautiful dog. R.I.P.

Thank you for all the fine words everyone. Its been a tough 2 days. I could be in a cranky mood when I woke up in the morning and made my way downstairs for coffee. He was always in the kitchen every day to greet me. But not today. When I got home from work hed always be on the back porch , same thing always wagging his tail to greet me. But not today. Made me break down and cry like a baby both times. God bless him.

Ah Pete, I'm sorry man. They aren't really pets, they're just another member of the family, losing one is so hard. My condolences to you and your family.

its odd sometimes, they talk to us, (but we sometimes can't understand), there always there for you, there always happy to see us, even if we just stepped out to get the mail, you can never replace them, ever, and they can be more loyal then some friends.

:notworthy:

Have you noticed that when a friend loses a dog his friends who are dog guys miss the dog also, even if they never knew him. It's like if we miss him also you won't hurt as much. I am not looking forward to that day with Kaylie.
