Well we had a nice little '81 picked out for Vicki that seams to have fallen through. No response from the seller for a few weeks so it was back to Craigslist. Since I bought the '80 Vicki has actually grown more attached to that one. She'd still like an automatic but she's definitely developed a liking to this one. That left my options a little more open.

I set out scouring Craigslist again and running across some of the most rusty junk the East Coast has to offer. Usually I concentrate on 80s Cjs with the T-176 Dana 300 combo cause it's the 2nd best Transmission / tcase combo Jeep used. The '77-'79 wide ratio T-18 / Dana 20 is the best off road ready combo ever put in a AMC era Cj. The problem is they rarely pop up around here and when they do their usually crazy money. Most of the '77-'79s I see around here have the T-150 / Dana 20 which aren't very desirable from an off road perspective.

That's when I ran across an ad that read " 79 CJ7 $1500. I'm ready to read T-150 or QuadraTrac when I see 4spd granny gear Transmission . Now I'm excited and fire off a quick email asking for an address and pics. He sends a few pics of a pretty clean Jeep but it's been sitting for years. Unfortunately I couldn't make the 2 hour trip to see it till Thursday. I reluctantly tell him it's his to sell if he can before I get there. Luckily Craigslist didn't let me down. He called me last night saying it's mine. He didn't want to deal with anymore idiots. Thank you Craigslist morons , I will now own what I consider the Holy Grail of Cjs , a 79 CJ7 T-18 Dana 20 . Heres a pic. Lots more to come.

Good on you.
Not sure why I can see some pics and not others. It must be photobucket that I can't see is what I'm thinking. I seen 007 pics this morning, but I can't see yours, or JR.

Nice score, that CJ would probably bring 3-4k$ in my area. Its rare to see a drivable or near drivable CJ for less than 3k$. Everyone wants them for their deer lease. I had hoped the rise of the UTV would put a stop to that but so far it has not. :(

Good drive train out the gate for wheeling 45.1 crawl. Looks to be close to stock with an optional HD suspension, most likely 3.54's as well.

What's your plans for it?

Oh, and now I can see the pics, but thanks for the link. Seem it takes a few hours for photobucket pics to show for me posting or viewing.

I was looking at alot of Texas Cjs and your right. I got sticker shock on the majority of them. And alot of the ones that were for sale said deer lease somewhere in the ad. Not sure how close to drivable it is though. Hasn't been driven in years

The first thing I have to do to it is leave it alone. Only cause I'm doing everything to the '80 to have it ready for next year's Colorado ride

Honestly though the interior is a total gut. It was a Levi (Edition) interior though so they'll be a little to sell. Full cage and 3.15 gears in the Transfer Case . I'm guessing 3.54s as well. Probably going to search for a Dana 44 instead of building the AMC20 . Narrow 44 shouldn't be to hard to find. The fenders are shot and I really want some aluminum flat fenders. New 4 inch lift and some 33s on those white wagon wheels. Either Silver with Slate blue interior or Ice blue with black interior. Need a winch as well as at least one locker.

Have to add that right now there's a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l in it. I'll see if I can get it to run but I'm not counting on it. If I'm right then I'll be looking for a 360.

Nice score!! And I guess at the rate I'm movin you'll have both of yours on the pad before I get mine moving under its own power LOL.

The Ice Blue / Black sounds very nice. That blue was second on my list.....

Lol I wish it was going to go quick. Unfortunately it's going to be a placeholder in the garage for awhile till I even think of starting it. I'll do some little things here and there though

Nice! Can't wait to watch this one get brought back!

Headed out now to see it in person. Hope so. 2 hr 40 min each way.

If you bring it home, those 5 hrs will fade quickly........

The lack of pictures make me believe this is a joke...

HAHAHAHA. Well, maybe when he said

he forgot to take his phone with him. Maybe he had bad lighting. Maybe he forgot to put film in his phone. :bang: :poke:

I know , I was thinking about getting pics on the way there and then just got wrapped up in looking at it when I got there. This Cj sat the last 14 years. One axle was locked up (most likely seized brakes) yet the engine spins freely. This is my long term project. Once it's here I'll go over it in plenty of detail and a bunch of pics.
