- Current project is a restoring a 1973 CJ5.
Here are the details:
1982 258 engine. purchased on Craigslist, seems to run ok, smokes a little. Loads of torque.
Carb:
Old Mc2100-style carb from a 1967 Mustang 289. This is a 1.02 size venturi with size 46 Holley jets in it and works great on my 258. My Wife found it at a garage sale!
Transmission:
T176 from a 1980 CJ7. Smooth and quiet.
T-case:
Dana 300 from the 1980 CJ7. It is the one with the short output housing, 1980 only. also smooth and quiet.
Diffs are stock D30 front and D44 Rear.
and power steering and disc brakes form a 1980 CJ7.
1973 CJ5 restored to modern, usable condition as follows:
1982 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l I-6 Engine with MC2100 carb and 1973 ignition with points
1980 T-176 Transmission with tall shifter
1980 Dana 300 Transfer Case with tall shifter
1980 Disk Brakes, non-power
1980 Power Steering
Painless wiring kit.
Tinted windshield, wiper motor and linkage etc.
