The Jeep was totally gone thru, 124k original miles on body,
New Crate engine and Trans, Weber Carb, Interior replaced back to stock, Dana 44 Rear, Dana 35 Front, 2.5 " Suspension Lift 1" body 33-12.50 Tires on Mickey Thompson Wheels, New Dupont Paint
Ok so I finally got the CJ7 back, i should have took some pics before i drove it home in the rain and parked it, i got it back right before thanksgiving.
Anyways when i bought it , there was a
power acoustic CD player in it, anyways, I had planned on doing a serious radio upgrade since i bough the jeep.
OK here is what I have or have planned so far.
I got an
RADIO: Alpine Headunit out of a civic i used to have and it has a ipod, iphone adapter etc, i know the newer ones attach directly to the radio but this one has a box you put in the console or glovebox and your ipod etc stays hidden and the radio controls the ipod, I been saving it for the jeep b/c it keeps as much as possible out of sight.
SPEAKERS:
there are some in the front speaker location, and it has some plastic boxes that mount around the rear roll bar by the rear seat, i dont think they make these exact boxes anymore I cant find them in any catalog but they hold s 6x9
i ordered a centra pod, it holds 5.25 but says with trimming 6.5's can fit easily
here is a link to the centra pod

I like the plastic pod system b.c of rain etc, but for the very rear
there is a quad pod, it holds a 8 in sub in the bottom and a 6.5 in the top, it sits one on each side of the rear storage space of the jeep, so one right behind the corner of the rear set on each side.

I found another option that holds 2 10 in subs and is made of wood but it is sprayed with a line-x type material and the subs are firing down and has a space for the amp in the middle also facing down, it has on each side pieces so it doesnt set on the bottom of the floor of the jeep.
But here is my issue im getting in to, its got 2 stock 4 in I think in the dash, the 2 6x9's , 2 5.25 which i plan to put 6.5's in the centra pod and either 2 more 6.5's and 2 8's in the quad pods which puts me putting all amps under the seat, or going with the 2- 10 in subs with a place to put either 1 or 2 amps out of sight with the 10's.
I will run JL audio in the speakers, I am not wanting some mall cruising, tg rattling jeep, but with the top off and 33's you loose so much sound.
I guess I am asking has anyone used the pods, how do speakers sound in them,or how have u had luck putting amps under the rear seat.
The jeep will be well protected, at a min, it will be in a gated parking with a hardtop, or in a garage. I m not driving it to the mall with the top of so people can just open the door and get what they want.
the radio has removeable face etc, so if i went with the 10's the box cant be removed without opening the rear tailgate and the only thing that could be seen would be the centra pod which goes behind the shifter, the 6x9 boxes in the rear are hard to see if looking for them but both could be covered very easily.
Looking for opinions here, I am going either way with the quad pod or the 10's to have a switch wired in to turn the subs off by flipping a switch when hard top is on, the radio would turn them off if I wanted to do it that way but wiring in the switch just makes it easier to turn them off and or on,
opinions pls
