Hi, I have questions regarding the lift kits for my 1955 CJ5 . The kits all say "bolt on" but they will not due to the treaded U shaped shackles. What must I do to make them fit. Have read that people switch to YJ shackles or file out the threads on the stock ones. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks :dunno:

If you have the money. YJ springs are the way to go. I have the OMU 3.5" SUA Springs on my 64'. The kit comes with all you need to install it.

What I have done on those early style shackles is to remove the threads with a 7/8" drill bit and then press in the standard steel/rubber/steel bushing.Poly bushings would work also. :)mike
