need help with key return lever

Hello
Have 82 cj without tilt. During key cylinder change out key return lever is now all jammed up and will not function. Any one else removed this permanently? I cant seem to get the collar to clear enough to pull off so any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for the return. The key return lever that allows the key to be removed is stuck in the up position. also when I try to remove the collar housing itself it is hanging up on what I think is that lever. Seems like it should just slide off but wont.

I have never taken one apart and had that problem. Did the tear down link I posted help any?

Thanks for the link to tear down. Had run through everything again just to make sure but still issue with the key return lever. Cant pull the housing off to get behind and see what it is. Will keep at it.

Take the 2 screws out of the ign switch to release the rod. You should at this point be able to remove the lock housing. I hope this helps.

Please help me as well, my key is stuck in and can not be returned to take out position and I do see articles to get ignition out but not going aany further.

Can I remove this all together?
