Hello!
I am new to the site and need some help from the experts. I have a 2.5 inch rancho leaf lift with heavy duty shackles on my 84 CJ7 . The shackles may give me 3/4 of an inch of lift or so. Im running 33" bfg All terrains. I love the ride because its reasonably soft considering. What im having an issue with is clearance. I want to step it up to a 3 or 4 inch lift but I want to keep the great ride it has now.. Do you guys have any recomendations on a spring that will give me the height but not ride like a tank?
Thanks for you help

To bad we were not closer, I have a Rubicon Express 4.5 that came on my CJ5 and realy only want 2.5 or so. It had 33" tires and I went to 31" and it sits a bit too high for them. I give a thumbs up to the Rubicon kit for you although figure on buying a new CV driveshaft with that lift and I think it comes with all the other stuff you would need...longer brake lines, T case drop, degree wedges for the rear but not the front and I needed them in the front.

Oh Ya...Welcome!

:ww:from the republic of Texas.

Have you considered a body lift?? 1 or 2 inches would increase fender clearance and not change center of gravity very much.
Why do you need the additional lift?

You could also open up the wheelwells with either cut-outs or tj's.

I personally would consider the body lift, 1 inch there will do everything you have asked, retain the ride, and let you have that bit of extra clearance you need. With the added benefit of not costing an arm and a leg or have all the issues to deal with that the spring lift would.

On that note, they do make a body bushing mount that incorporates a 1 inch body lift into it. That way you can replace/upgrade the body bushings at the same time with little added work and expense.

Hmm..I swear I saw in the Quadratech catalog, but I can't find it right now. :(

Thanks for your all your help. Sounds like a body lift may be the way to go. Low cost and will help with the clearance issue. Do body lifts replace the body bushings or are they used together? Any recomendations on brand? I imagine they are fairly easy to install. Only issue I see is steering shaft?
Thanks

clutch linkage and radiator mounts.

Brake lines from MC., possable Transmission ,and tc linkages hitting the floorboard.

The easy way to get more clearance is to use smaller tires :D. Why is everyone so set on 33" tires with all the problems they give?
A short list,
*Obvious tire rubbing
*gearing issues
*more stress on your axles
*more stress on your brakes
*compounds any steering problems you have
*more stress on steering box mount
surely there are others but why not just use 31 or even 32" tires?
Not that all the issues above will go away but should help some.
