Last night we had the Jeep out and after idling in first for a mile or so when we hit good road I took off I hit a bump and it lost fire to the plugs.I checked the coil for fire and it was dead.Let it set for a bit and this time put a screw driver in the coil wire and grounded it.Had Fire.
When it first died the balist resistor was hot.Could the coil be getting bad or what?
Any input will be nice

lot of times if the module gets hot it will shut off. then it cools down and fire again. if this is the case you need a new module.

What are you calling a module? I have points, condenser,Balist resistor and a coil.NO CDI system.

i think he means the ballast resistor. i would start there

Could also be the coil or condenser.
What makes me wonder is you say it died when you hit a bump. I'd check all the wire connections and hardware in the whole ign. system to be sure everything is tight before I bought any new parts.

I checked all the connections(coil wire may have been loose fitting in the coil)I think I will get a resistor to carry with me and change out if this happens again.
