Hello I'm William, I'm new to the site but here it goes...
I just bought a 74 CJ5 and had oughta be able to completely redo the steering this coming weekend. The previous owner has taken about 8 inches off the steering column and for some reason it now moves from front to back about 2 inches. Any idea what part I should be looking for to keep my steering wheel from going through my face in a front end impact?

Currently I have purchased
Flaming River tilt column
Skyjacker steering stabilizer
Rugged Ridge Tie Rod and Drag Link Kit
Telescoping Steering shaft
Steering Gearbox
and Rugged Ridge Reverse Shackle

Sounds like you have got everything to fix it. have you installed all those parts yet?

Not yet, I'll likely get it all in this weekend. Any idea what diameter and spline the steering gearbox is, I'm having all sorts of trouble finding a definitive answer. I'll be going from a 3/4" DD to whatever spline and diameter it is.

You asked the same question in another thread.Whats the deal? You did not respond so I take it you could not access the information on the BORGESON site. If it's aSaginaw power steering gear the spline dia. should be 13/16". You can look up the spline count on your own. Mike

Thanks Mike, I was trying to find the thread where I posted that however, I'm a bit new at this and just couldn't find it. Thanks again.
