Can you look under the dash on the column and see if the rod moves that goes to the ignition switch?? Mabe the rod was not engaged to the tumbler.

no headlights?? did you hook the battery back up?? Do you have any voltage to ground on either side of any of the fuses??

when you turn the switch does it spring back? or does it have no resistance on the last part on the rotation?

Yeah it turns out the battery died completely and thats why the key wasn't working.
