new leaf pack install issues

Mornin all


We are in the process of installing a 4" rough country lift kit on the 86 CJ7 .

The front went rather smooth, so we move to the back and remove the spring packs.

The issue, the front part of the packs will not fit into the perch. Now I realize the rough country have rather wide bushings.

Can anyone advise the easiest way to spread the perch enough to get the packs in?

Rough country stated to just use a pry bar, though I am not sure where to pry.

Thought I would ask before getting creative.

How much of a difference is there? How far are you going to need to spread the perches?
If it's only a couple of a hundred thousands I would just use a pry bar. If it's more then that I might use some sort of hand fabbed spreader that mounted where the bushing would go.

A 24" pipe wrench is what I used.

Thanks for the tips. We ended up doing a combination. We were able to spread the perches just a little then shaved down the thicker spacer and they went in.
