well i haven't been real active here lately, been working alot. but there is a new addition to the jeep family, my dad traded his k5 blazer for a 79 CJ7 with a AMC 304 auto with QuadraTrac . supposedly has a newer crate motor, it is lifted and has 33x12.50s. looks to be pretty solid, with very minimal rust. here's a couple pics of it.

i gotta a couple questions about it, ive never owned a QuadraTrac . i know it has drive flanges on the front, that means its all wheel drive. it has a switch on the dash, and a lever on the left side of the Transmission tunnel. now can someone explain to me exactly how it works.

I'm pretty familiar with the regular old 4x4 on em, but haven't ever played with a QuadraTrac . Anyhow gotta do a little header work to it this weekend, I'm trying to talk him into ditching the fenderwell headers (leaking) and go with a set of shortys. But really that's all it needs, well that and a 1pc axle kit later.

the switch is an air switch engages the Transfer Case , as for the shifter puts it in high and low gear, hope this helps. congrats on the member of the family! :chug: make sure u only use the special fluid in that tcase, its some kind of mineral oil, forget the name of it right now, lol ill look when i get home.

I have the exact same only mine is a 78. Really nice set up. 4 wheel all the time start gettin stuck change to 4 low lever on the driverside. Then if your really in it turn the switch in the glovebox from normal to emergency the quadra trac is vaccum actuated and then you can pull outta most anything.:)

You have the rarer of the 2 QuadraTrac units. It's the hi/low the switch below the seat on the trams tunnel indicates weather its in hi,low or neutral. The special fluid you use is TC3 QuadraTrac oil. It's reproduced by crown. The hi/low set up is a very effective form of the QuadraTrac tcase. Very nice find!
