Just ordered a new rebuilt steering column for my '80 CJ5 . Total cost, including shipping, is going to be $319.00. I will also get a $40.00 credit to my card when they receive my core back bringing the final cost to $279.00!! I've been doing a lot of shopping on the net and this was the best deal I could come up with. The company is Snake River Rod & Custom, tel: 800-201-6728. They said it would ship on Monday, next week. I'll let you know what I think when I get it. My "original" turned out to have the bottom section of a steering column for an automatic Transmission . I should have known something was up when I saw the duct tape and tie wraps on it. The tape was covering up the hole where the shift arm had been twisted off. I figure the tape kept mud and wet out of the bottom of the column and the tie wraps were probably to help keep the tape in place LOL. I'm sure the PO was really proud of himself.
