hello im new to lifts ive always just put on big tires cut the fenders and went muddin but i just got a 86 CJ7 and im gonna biuld a huge rig im no stranger to fab work and know that soa convertions reqiure some my question is can i put a soa conversion and the use put a lift kit on top of that if anybody has thoughts on this id love to hear them thanks

Here's a link I found helpful to me, since I'm considering doing a SOA on my 68' CJ5 . Can't really give you much input on your question, I'm a newbie to suspension lifts as well, I'll be checking this thread to see what the experienced guys have to say. I know the SOA will give you between 5-6 inches, that's more then enough for me. I read that you can, by using lift springs w/SOA but I don't know what the cons would be. Welcome to the site, I've found it to be very helpful!

Yes you can. I started out with a 4" lift kit on my last CJ7 , and wound up going SOA on top of that. Getting the steering right and drive line angles set up were the only problems I ran into. That setup gave me about 9" of lift.
This time I'm going SOA first (on Dana 44 's) and if I want more lift later, I'll get a lift kit. Good luck with your project.:chug:
