hey yall, i just ordered a new windshield frame for my 81 CJ5 . my glass is good so just swapping over to the new frame. any tips on this install? thanks

use plastic scrapers to work it in the last corner will probably suck. I havent done my jeep yet but the rear windsheild to my galaxy was a pain...I would also reccomend the black windsheild sealer to keep water out of your channel :) Good luck

I tried this when I was repainting -- my technique must have been off, because I found this to be harder than expected and was fearful of breaking the glass. I'd probably look into having a pro do it next time if I couldn't get someone to assist.

Have a shop do it. If they break the glass they'll replace it, if you break it the you replace the glass. Mine was a pita as the new windshield rubber was to thick.

There are two things I do not do, one time is enough to fail miserably.

I do not mess with radiators and I do not fool with glass. This is just my opinion, I have had enough bad experiences with both to swear off unless it is the only option. Fortunately you can't throw a rock with out hitting a glass guy or radiator shop.

But!
I am a firm believer that no one learns anything the easy way so have at it and good luck, I am cheering for you.

I used the rope and dishsoap technique. Worked great.
