Hey there, First time jeep owner here from Kentucky. I recently aquired a 1948 CJ3a from my father-in-law. I have never owned any type of jeep before and I hope I can learn a lot from the site. I have owned lots of different type of cars including classics.
A little history on the jeep. My father in law has owned it for about 30 years and he got it from his uncle. The jeep ran great when he parked it in his barn about 15 years ago. He took all the neccesary precautions when storing a vehicle and thankfully it appears to be in pretty good shape. Crank turns so I know th emotor isn't seized up. the gas tank was disconnected and drained before storage. Unfortunately it has a lot of rust in the tank. I will keep this thread updated on my progress of getting it running and driving again.
The first order of business is to get a repair manual on the jeep since I obviously know nothing about jeeps. I found that out the hard way when I opened up the canister to look at the "air filter" and oil poured out everywhere.
