Hey everyone. I have so many questions lol. I figured this is the place to start. I am completely new to CJ7 . I finally bought my first one it's a 1976 CJ7 . I'm looking for fluid recommendations.I want to change all the fluids in the vehicle. All I know right now is that I have AMC 360 motor. I live in las vegas, so it's usually pretty warm. Even our winters don't get very cold. Most of my driving will be highway driving to and from work.Any recommendations on oil type brand and viscosity specific please and filters?

Also, if someone can point me in the right direction to get the correct air filter and carb rebuilt kit that would be great?

You have a K&N air filter so just buy a K&N cleaner and oil kit (follow directions just wash oil dry and then reinstall)

Oil go conventional 10w30 or 40 I prefer rotella diesel oil as they have zinc still (or at least used to)

Transmission fluid will depend on what Transmission you have. But if it's a manual 80w90 gear oil is fine same with the Transfer Case .

Both axles will use the same gear oil 80w90 if you have a factory trac loc in the rear add traction additive

Antifreeze old school green 50/50 mix

Id have to know what carb you are running to give you ideas on rebuild kit. If it's in your budget ditch the carb for EFI

I can tell you the automatic is not stock. it used to be a three speed manual.
In 79 they put automatics stock in CJ 7s I figured they stole one from there as parts are easier to get and it would bolt right up

Front axle looks like a stock Dana 30

Could be a TF999 hard to say exactly

In either case it's a automatic the turbo 350/400 and TF999 all take dexteon 3 and the 727 you can use ATF+4

If I get a chance I'll try to take a few pictures of my wife's 79 CJ7 with the automatic in it. If they match then I know for sure what you have.

Most likely a TF999 with the Dana 300 behind it. That was the stock auto from 80 on. Most likely swapped from an 80s CJ

difference between "10w" and "15w" oil is that "15w" oil is thicker than "10w" oil, meaning it flows less readily at cold temperatures, making it better suited for warmer climates or older engines that require a heavier oil for proper lubrication; while "10w" oil flows more easily in cold conditions, making it a better choice for most modern engines in moderate climates.

It will be fine TBH. Especially cause if I remember correctly your in Vegas.

Hey, so this is all the information I could get on the Transmission along with photos. Hopefully this helps narrow it down.I believe it's a 904 now but IDK.
Okay, so the first number I found is above the oil pan driver side, and I believe is the most relevant.
K3240107X 6954 7113

The second number is on the body on the driver's side. Note that the "I" represent 13 dashes. I don't know if that's relevant.
80 IIIIIIIIIIIII 3743113-3

Last number on the driver's side. 0511 4130545 CAV.2 79 " after the 79 there's 12 boxes".
The first 2 pictures are some of the numbers written on the driver's side.
The next 2 pictures so pics 3 and 4 are just overall pictures of the driver's side of the Transmission .
The last 2 pictures are all the passenger side of the Transmission . so pictures 5-6.

The last photo is a picture of a gasket. I bought that.I think lines up perfectly with the oil pan.
