FORMER: 1979 Jeep CJ5 w/ stock 304 V8, T-150, Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 30 Front & AMC 20 rear, MC 2100 carb, 31x10.5x15 (8" wheels), no lift (HD leaf pack), Warn 8274 winch, ~99K miles.
For the most part, I'm basically inexperienced with driving off road -- but I was out this weekend on Cow Mountain (near Ukiah, CA) playing in mud and snow for the first time with some guys on quads. It is a much different experience than dry, summer forest trails, but I only got out of my comfort zone a couple of times. My mostly stock Jeep wasn't used for its intended purpose much by the previous owners. I plan to change that and now that I've got the major repairs taken care of, it is time to work on the weakest link (me).

I had the opportunity to use my winch (Warn 8274) twice this past weekend. Once to move a tree that had fallen across the trail and another to reposition a newer, full size Dodge truck to a point where the driver could back down the trail. The picture doesn't really show the drop-off next to the trail. I was pretty impressed that my 31 year old Jeep CJ5 could handle that.

As a newbie, I'm very appreciative of the advice and wisdom I've received from you more experienced folks. I hope to pay it forward.
