CJ has been running great, parked it in the shop the other night to do a stereo transplant which went well. Went to start it tonight and after a many times cranking nothing. Carb was getting gas, looked around to see if I moved around any wires and could not not see anything wrong. Got in started cranking and then fired off. So my son took it out for about an hour, and then I get the call he is sitting on the roadside. He told me while he was out it had died out on him once and got it started again and then 10 minutes later it died as he was driving. Went to help and couldn't get it fired up, so hooked it up to the Ford PowerJoke and towed home. Was not in the mood to look at it tonight.
Anything sound familiar to anyone:confused:

Runs cold warms and then dies?

Is you coil or CDI going/is bad?

Sounds electrical to me. :D

Does it still have the plastic piece that the wires go into on the coil? If so you might want to check it. Mine was doing the same thing and I chucked it and have never had it do it since. I new it was trouble when it said Ford on it :D

That just rang a bell! I do remember when I first got it I had a starting issue, then I took that cover off cleaned contacts and all was well!! Thanks

As far as Ford is concerned, well you don't want to get me started about the POWERJOKE engines and the TORQUES*#T transmissions:censored:. Always been a Ford Truck Man, but since 2002 I have no frigging clue how they are still the #1 selling truck

I agree with mtnwhlr, the coil is the fist thing I would check. The red and white wire should have 12 volts when the key in on.
It does sound like an intermittent connection.
