Looking for some help on the trails near Canton Georgia.

New guy here, I normally hang out at the Earlycj5 forums since I have a '74 CJ5 .

I've wheeled a few times at Lower Sweetwater and it's a pretty cool trail. The problem is that it also looks like a dump. Lot's of folks dumping garbage, and more than a few tires litter the trail almost down to the lake.

I thought it might be a good idea to try and get a trail clean up for early 2013. Thinking about contacting property owners and hunting club there to get them involved too. I'm really afraid that someone is going to get sick and tired of all the garbage and put a cattle gate at the start of that trail and we'll be all done at Sweetwater.

If you local guys think this is a good thing and want to dedicate a day in the spring for this then let me know in the thread here. This is only in the planning stages, but I really believe we could do some good here.

Thanks,

Norm

I would be interested in participating in a clean up of a good off roading area to keep it open for us. I'm new to jeeping and spent all day today just south of Blue Ridge and East of Ellijay driving WMA fire and maintenance roads just enjoying being out. Nothing that really required 4wd except some of the roads were steep and rocky so you needed it to keep the back tires from spinning out.

I'd love to find some places to do some real off roading up here even though I have a mostly stock CJ5 . I plan to get out some more tomorrow in the area riding some trails. Drop me a message if you want to meet up and ride together somewhere.

Thanks for the response...unfortunately I'm finding out some more information that might make this whole thing a waste of time. Seems like the whole area might actually be private property. I'm still investigating and have the owners contact information. I know there are lots of folks that go out there thought, private or not. It's a pretty good ride, lots of mud holes, large ruts, washed out hills, and just one or two minor rock faces. Much of it requires 4WD.

If I get some good feedback from the property owner I'll post up again, especially if it is private and he doesn't mind people using the trail.
