I am not convinced this is the best system - the over the motor stabilizer connected to the frame - albeit the two bolts are the weak point - I still do not see the advantage of connecting the shock towers - seems to me it creates stress on the frame - please correct me if I am wrong - I am thinking shorter shocks with welded towers - ?

The brace was there to keep what happened from happening. Didn't work, obviously. It takes stress of the frame since the load is divided between the two mounts. That is the point anyway.

People make too much fuss over shock mounts. It doesn't get serious till one uses coil overs. The weld on ones are your best bet, especially if you could make a pair.

I thought it was way to much for little in return...

I agree - gonna get a buddy to fab up some mounts and weld em on - I just want solid - not flexy

Might be cheaper to buy the ford shock towers, they are only $30, at least when I bought mine a few years ago.

Just bought a pair - thanks - should get em in a week...love this forum!

:)That link from side to side is supposed to act as Bridge between the frame rails that normally would tie the frame rails together and support both shock towers from any lateral movement..............the basic fundamental design is correct ......It's just the application of the design that failed.

Keep in mind those new towers at the elevated shock mount will have greater leverage........just make sure that whoever sticks them on does a good job.

Right - the shock towers will be at the same height as the former system and I could tie them together again -

Yep gonna weld these babies on - not me - someone who really knows welding!
:chug:

I would bolt them on. That way they are easy to remove, for whatever reason. I welded a piece of 1/4" plate to the frame, them drilled and tapped some holes. They come of in 30 seconds.

That sounds easier - I can do that -

I am amazed how much I learn from reading other peoples posts. Thanks for bringing this up Cornfed (course at your loss from breakage) and csuengr and old dog for the great info.
